About the Work
Sound therapy at Sound Therapy Studio in Bishop’s Stortford is designed to work with the nervous system, helping you step out of stress, anxiety, and patterns that feel hard to shift.
Rather than focusing on analysing or explaining everything in detail, the sessions use sound to help your system slow down and access a different state. From there, it becomes easier to notice what is happening and begin responding differently over time.
How sound therapy works
Sound works directly with the body.
As you listen, the nervous system begins to respond. Breathing slows, the body softens, and the mind becomes quieter. This shift happens naturally, without needing effort or concentration.
You don’t need to “do” anything during a session. Simply resting and allowing the sound to work is enough.
Working with the nervous system
When the body is in a constant state of stress, it can feel difficult to switch off, think clearly, or respond differently.
Sound therapy helps guide the system out of that state.
As the nervous system settles, the body moves toward rest and repair. From here, it becomes easier to feel calm, think clearly, and move out of the same repeated patterns.

Why sessions focus on what’s present
Each session is guided by what is happening for you on the day.
There is no need to revisit the past or go over previous sessions in detail. Instead, we work with what is present in the moment.
This allows patterns to be recognised as they arise, which is where real change becomes possible.
Over time, this creates a shift in how you respond, rather than just understanding why things feel the way they do.
What makes this approach different
This is not a passive sound bath, and it’s not traditional talk therapy.
Sessions combine carefully applied sound with a simple, structured way of noticing what is happening in the moment.
You don’t need to explain everything or find the right words. The work happens by changing the state of the nervous system first, and allowing insight and change to follow from there.
The focus is not on analysing the past, but on shifting how things are experienced and responded to now.
